Baima Si

About a pot of coffee in and I'm still writing my study guide for Buddhism. Chinese Buddhism and Japanese Buddhism are getting confusing with their different terms that mean the same thing. Not only that, but it's funny that I'm studying for Buddhism, I feel as though that goes against part of the meaning of religion in an odd way.
One thing that's help getting me through all this confusion about Confucianism and Taoism is some Death Cab. Thank you Transatlanticism.

Biology

This semester hasn't been the greatest. Not only has backpacking class ended (a long long time ago nonetheless), but my two bio classes are kicking my butt. Mammalian Physiology is a tricky subject, especially with a professor who tells you that all the material that is gone over in class is important and you should know it for the exams... Which in turn makes me wonder why I changed my majors. I know why, but it still makes me wonder why instead of Teaching Bio minor, I changed to a double major in Environmental Studies Major and Biology (focusing in Natural Resources, focused in Wildlife). Quite a mouthful.
My 500+ level Biology classes may be the downfall of me, but I could see myself studying Armadillos for the rest of my life, as odd as that may sound to some.

Around My Head

Holden Caulfield you kill me.

The Catcher in the Rye is a book that took me only a few days to finish. I must admit, it's one of the best books I have read, yet one of the most I had dread reading. This is because, so many cliches surround this book.

The Catcher in the Rye is about Holden Caulfied. A boy who has been kicked out of numerous private schools and who is still trying to accept the two fates of his brothers. It follows Holden's thoughts and actions while he gets drunk and tries to figure out how to deal with his family after they find out he got kicked out of another school.

In my opinion, no other author has been able to mimic or surpass J.D. Salinger's style of interior monologue; and that is what makes this book so great. Most of the book is about Holden's thoughts, not about dialogue with other characters.

I could go on and on about this book, but I'd only wear out my hands and my mind.
The Catcher in the Rye is one of my top ten books. Enough said.

Physics

Physics, physics, physics, physics.
My second physics exam is today, lets hope I will kick ass on this one.

On a lighter note, did anyone ever realize how big of a beard Gustav Kirchhoff had? His junction law and loop law confuse the heck out of me at times, but make circuit problems so much easier.

Fail

It has been an epic fail trying to read a book a week along with all my homework from school. Ughhh. I miss reading for pleasure. Physics is rough, and Chemistry is starting to get on my nerves. Oh, and one of my roommates is sick, and he doesn't cover his mouth or nose if he coughs/sneezes. Awesome.

On a higher note, Mary and I made turtles last Friday.
The ingredients:
-Homemade Caramel (if you do not want to make some, then just soften up some store bought caramel)
-2 Bags Semisweet Chocolate Chips
-1 Bag Walnuts
-Splash of Milk
(Makes about 25)

They were super easy to make & quite delicious.

All you have to do is roast the walnuts for about five minutes in the oven, while that is going on, melt the chocolate. What we did, was put a glass bowl over a small pot, put in some chocolate with a bit a milk and kept of repeating this process as necessary because we didn't want to the chocolate to get too hard before we could put it on the turtles.
When the walnuts are done, place five of them in a "turtle" (or star) form.
Add a dollop of caramel, enough so the walnuts stick together, and then cover it with as much chocolate as you like. Repeat this until you run out of walnuts or until you feel like stopping!

The Great Depression

The Recession sucks.
Fuck Michigan.
Michigan screws over their teachers over and over again.
Now it's a 12% pay cut from each paycheck. Each Fucking. Paycheck.
Some people wont have enough money to pay their bills now.
Michigan can go fuck itself.
